Marseille's Famous Sunday Fish Market

Down at the Old Port every Sunday there is a fish market. The fishermen pull up in their boats and unload the fish from the nets - you can't buy much fresher than that.

Plenty of different varieties, some I have heard of and plenty I hadn't: Loop, Merlon, pink fish, rock looking fish, squid, and even the remains of a tuna (its tail fin) that had obviously been cut up during the morning.

A great sunny Sunday morning thing to do in Marseille at any time of the year. A quick wander around the port watching the bustling fishermen and their wives selling, gutting and chopping to order. Another Marseille Must Do!
